Why you should visit Australia

My Australian experience overview

Australia, the first stop on my 2024 travel adventure. I’m so excited to share this amazing location with you as there are so many aspects to talk about. I have visited 5 of the 6 states of Australia and all are distinctly unique in the best way possible.

My opinion is that Australia as a whole is inviting and laid back. I have always felt safe and welcomed here and the majority of people I have had the pleasure of meeting have been some of the kindest people I’ve met. The unique experiences I have lived here will always have a big place in my heart. I have found that roadtrips are the best way to really experience every aspect that Australia has to offer. I felt as if I was on the most amazing safari trips every time I got on the road. The views alone are so unique to anything I had seen prior and I was always excited to look out for the diverse wildlife that they have to offer.

I would love to share all of the amazing locations and experiences I visited and help you to plan an unforgettable trip in Australia!

South Australia

Adelaide the capital city of South Australia, peaceful and quaint. Mostly made up of universities and churches but also stunning landscaping and architecture.

We arrived here in February when the temperature was very high so maybe not the best time to visit here but still a very enjoyable experience. As this was the first stop on the travel list to the other side of the world we were very excited to get stuck in and start exploring so we did as much as we could making the most of the few days we had here.

Top 4 activities to do in Adelaide:

South Australia Museum

Botanical Gardens

Adelaide Zoo

Adelaide Gaol

Western Australia

Western Australia is full of flat endless fields and straight open roads that go on for miles. A peaceful, unwinding area with yellow sands to white sand beaches and kangaroos and emus being spotted at dusk.

My Western Australia experience was completed with a car and a tent. In my opinion this was the best way to experience the great Australian outback. We began our Western Australian roadtrip in the capital city, Perth and then set off on a roadtrip in the surrounding area of Perth.

Top 3 places I visited in WA:

Campsites

Jurien Bay Marine Park

The Pinnacles

Rotness Island

Queensland

The East Coast which spans along the state of Queensland's coast is full of adventure and experiences. There are so many amazing locations to stop at and take in which included must do experiences to really be immersed in the outdoors Australian lifestyle.

I took on the Greyhound coaches from Cairns down to Sydney in New South Wales. This took a lot of stress out of the travel time as each journey was pre booked so you just got on the coaches and they were very comfortable and enjoyable. There was so much to my east coast roadtrip as a lot happened on this adventure.

My top 6 stops on the East Coast:

The Great Barrier Reef

Magnetic Island

Whitsundays

Australia Zoo

New South Wales

The Sydney Opera House is an iconic must see landmark when visiting Australia as we all know but there’s also beautiful botanical gardens, loads of museums and galleries to see.

As mentioned above, the capital city of New South Wales, Sydney was the last stop on my East Coast roadtrip. I only spent a few days here but I am glad to tick off this bucket list spot. I really enjoyed exploring here, wandering around residential areas to get to the main city meant seeing quaint terrace homes that looked like scenes from a movie.

Victoria

Melbourne, the capital city of Victoria, is very different from everywhere else I visited in Australia. There is a hustle and bustle feel about Melbourne, even the roads surrounding the city are chaotic, think suburb housing with 4 lanes of traffic.

Everywhere else I have visited in Australia felt relaxed and laid back but Melbourne's not like this. There is a mixture of cultures which makes it feel more like a European city than anywhere else we visited. However this does not take away from the lovely city of Melbourne as it is stunning and although we didn't get much time here it seemed as though there was a lot to do there.

I did the Great Ocean Road road trip starting in South Australia and going through Victoria, ending in Melbourne. This might have been my favourite road trip in Australia as it felt so relaxing but extremely exciting at the same time. I saw so much wildlife from a wild koala, loads of kangaroos and wild penguins emerging from the ocean all making this road trip unforgettable.

Top 4 places I visited on the Great Ocean Road road trip:

12 Apostels

Great Ocean Road

Phillips Island

Melbourne
